The Venetian Coins cross stitch folk embroidery PDF pattern is inspired by the repeating geometric designs found on coins minted throughout the medieval world, many of them featuring cross motifs that traveled across cultures and centuries. Worked in pewter grey and golden olive to mimic the metals from which those coins were cast, the finished piece has a lovely gravitas that is delightfully different from the floral folk embroidery tradition. This was one of my very first allover designs when I was learning how to take photos and that lemon and olive branch still makes me so happy!

Folk fabrics have been used for hundreds of years to make folk costumes and household embroideries. I source mine from a 3rd-generation family mill in Athens, Greece so you can have an authentic stitching experience.
