Accessibility

I want everyone to be able to browse my kits, read about the traditions behind them, and place an order without running into obstacles. Avlea is a small business, and I do all of the work on this site myself, so I appreciate your understanding as I work through this.

The standard I'm working toward

I'm using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. I'm making my way through it steadily, and I'd rather tell you exactly where things stand:

What I've done

  • Changed the site typeface for better legibility
  • Added descriptive alt text to product photographs, so a screen reader can convey the design, the colors, and how a finished piece looks

Where there's still work to do

  • Captions on my how-to videos
  • Alt text on older product listings, which I'm working through design by design

If you run into trouble here

Please email me at avleaembroidery@gmail.com. Tell me what you were trying to do and where you got stuck, and I'll fix it. I read all my emails myself. If the site has an obstacle, please feel free to skip it and email me which kit or notion you would like and I'll help you place your order. Because I'm a small business owner and I wear a lot of hats, I respond to emails Mon-Thurs.
