The Byzantine Tulip hard enamel needleminder is part of Avlea's collection of unabashedly beautiful needleminders inspired by Byzantine decorative motifs. A stylized tulip set within a delicate pearled border, it is rendered in soft coral with gold enamel for a design that is distinctly Byzantine in character. The tulip is one of the great traveling motifs of the decorative arts, moving from Persian miniatures through Ottoman art and into the Byzantine and Greek folk traditions, and this needleminder distills all of that history into one elegant little object to ornament your stitching!

A needleminder does more than hold your needle when you set your work down. The strong neodymium magnet secures your fabric as you stitch and keeps your pattern attached to your frame — a small tool that earns its place on every project.

Why is folk fabric so special?

Folk fabrics have been used for hundreds of years to make folk costumes and household embroideries. When you work a cross stitch design on them, they give your stitching a beautiful texture and are a delight to stitch on, plus they're made to stand up to daily use. I source mine from a 3rd-generation family mill in Athens, Greece so you can have an authentic stitching experience.

What if I'm new to cross stitch?
