The Illyrian Scroll and Leaves cross stitch folk embroidery PDF pattern is inspired by vintage needlework designs that were popular throughout Europe in the 19th and early 20th centuries. A hexagonal medallion is filled with lavish scroll and leaf motifs, then framed with a delicate floral border for a delightful contrast. Stitched in warm terra cotta on vanilla linen, the monochromatic palette is an elegant foil to the intricate design. I've finished it as a lined wall hanging, and one of my beechwood tapestry rods makes a beautiful option to display this gorgeous embroidery, and it's just as lovely finished as a table runner or bolster cushion.

What does "intermediate" mean for this pattern?
It means you're ready to settle into a project that will give you many enjoyable stitching sessions. This is one of my larger, heirloom-worthy designs. None of my kits use advanced embroidery techniques, so intermediate here is about scale rather than difficulty.

Please note: the lined wall hanging finish shown in the photos has to be done after the design is stitched; the fabric in your kit will come with the raw edges serged so they don't unravel while you are stitching.

I source mine from a 3rd-generation family mill in Athens, Greece so you can have an authentic stitching experience.
