The Clara's Garden cross stitch folk embroidery kit is inspired by the ornate embroidery borders stitched throughout the Cyclades, a group of Greek islands in the Aegean, where Venetian textile influence in the mid-1700s introduced rich, ornate floral motifs to the regional folk embroidery tradition. Tulips, cornflowers, and carnations are gathered together with scrolling leaves and grounded by a geometric border. Reimagined in a cheerful palette of coral, alizarin, soft yellow, and green with turquoise accents that gives the whole piece a warmth and vitality that is very hard to resist. This was the first prika piece I stitched for my second granddaughter and it is named for her.

Historically-inspired, modern-made!
Avlea Folk Embroidery brings ancient beauty to the modern world with beautiful folk embroidery kits of the finest quality. I design and make each kit by hand in my Central Oregon studio, to give you a wonderful stitching experience no matter your skill level.
Why is folk fabric so special?
Folk fabrics have been used for hundreds of years to make folk costumes and household embroideries. When you work a cross stitch design on them, they give your stitching a beautiful texture and are a delight to stitch on, plus they're made to stand up to daily use. I source mine from a 3rd-generation family mill in Athens, Greece so you can have an authentic stitching experience.

A beautiful project. Kit has everything needed.
It would have been 5 stars except the threads got terribly tangled as I tried to separate them. I didn't realize that there was only one length per strand,. So lesson learned and I did much better on the second kit.
I love the pattern and colors, though. The repetitive pattern is as relaxing as you said. Very satisfied. Thank you.
