The Chloris BitKit cross stitch folk embroidery kit takes its name from the ancient Greek word for "green buds," and the design lives up to it beautifully. Little flower buds are created out of negative space set within a diamond lattice showcasing how folk embroidery uses what is left unstitched as skillfully as what is stitched. Worked in a lovely shade of blue-green outlined in deep grey green, it has a fresh, serene quality that is quite distinctive. I like to think of these kits as a "little bit of stitching" that introduces you to the folk embroidery tradition without a big time commitment.

Historically-inspired, modern-made!
Avlea Folk Embroidery brings ancient beauty to the modern world with beautiful folk embroidery kits of the finest quality. I design and make each kit by hand in my Central Oregon studio, to give you a wonderful stitching experience no matter your skill level.
Why is folk fabric so special?
Folk fabrics have been used for hundreds of years to make folk costumes and household embroideries. When you work a cross stitch design on them, they give your stitching a beautiful texture and are a delight to stitch on, plus they're made to stand up to daily use. I source mine from a 3rd-generation family mill in Athens, Greece so you can have an authentic stitching experience.

I love all the kits that I've gotten!
This is a very relaxing kit because of the repetition. I haven’t gotten very far on it yet, but I’m definitely enjoying it!
