The Athenian Sunflowers BitKit cross stitch folk embroidery kit originates in a vintage needlework pattern from Greece, featuring stylized sunflowers alternating with large Xs — motifs common in Greek folk embroidery that would most likely have been used as a border for cushion covers. Worked in a fresh and vibrant palette of yellow, green, and blue, with grey-brown outlining stitches that add a lovely intricacy and contrast, it has a cheerful, sunny quality that is very easy to love. I like to think of these kits as a "little bit of stitching" that introduces you to the folk embroidery tradition without a big time commitment.

Historically-inspired, modern-made!
Avlea Folk Embroidery brings ancient beauty to the modern world with beautiful folk embroidery kits of the finest quality. I design and make each kit by hand in my Central Oregon studio, to give you a wonderful stitching experience no matter your skill level.
Why is folk fabric so special?
Folk fabrics have been used for hundreds of years to make folk costumes and household embroideries. When you work a cross stitch design on them, they give your stitching a beautiful texture and are a delight to stitch on, plus they're made to stand up to daily use. I source mine from a 3rd-generation family mill in Athens, Greece so you can have an authentic stitching experience.

Very pretty
I absolutely love the patterns. I can't do 32 ct. because of my eyesight and age, I can do larger count and I know it will still be beautiful. Can't wait to get started.
