Mediterranean DMC floss palette
Share
This is the classic Mediterranean DMC floss palette that I was originally introduced to in Greece. I have since added to this range of colors depending on specific designs or fabrics.
Classic Mediterranean DMC floss palette (available as 24yd hanks):
Reds--355 terra cotta dk, 349 dark coral, 351 coral, 347 salmon very dk, 21 lt alizarin, 815 garnet
Blues--924 grey green very dk, 926 grey green med, 927 grey green lt, 311 navy med, 807 peacock blue,
Greens--3012 khaki green med, 469 avocado, 3347 yellow green med
Golds--832 golden olive, 729 old gold med, 676 old gold lt
Neutrals--310 black, 3032 med mocha brown, 739 ecru, 317 pewter grey
Additional colors I carry:
936 avocado green very dk--I added this so I could have a deeper shade to go with 3012 and 469
3787 brown grey very dk--I love the 310 black in a lot of folk embroidery, but sometimes I want a softer, more modern effect and I love this color that I call "faded ink"
930, 931, 932 antique blue series--this is a cooler blue series than the 924 series and nice when working on bright whites
224 shell pink very lt--I've used this in a few designs, usually with outlining
221 shell pink dk--I've used this when I want a shade that is between 355 and 815 (not too warm and not too blue)
3857 rosewood dk--I added this color to mimic historic porphyros color (aka "Tyrian purple", which is not purple but a deep, brownish-burgundy color)
501 and 502 blue green series--I love blue-greens and have added them to several designs
3053 grey green, 3346 hunter green, 3362 pine green--various greens I've added when I want a different effect from the 3012/469 warm greens
