Traditional Groundcloth is a 26ct 100% cotton fabric that is a modern reproduction of handwoven evenweave fabrics used in Greek folk embroidery. It has a soft hand, which is very satisfying to work with and a lovely texture which lends itself well to folk designs. It is versatile and durable for table mats, table runners, wall hangings, and cushion covers. Great for beginners and experienced stitchers, the threads are very easy to see. 70 inches wide. Natural--a warm, wheat-y color that gives a traditional look

White--a bright white that looks fantastic with bright colors such as reds and blues (please note: allow 10% more yardage for your project with the White Traditional Groundcloth. The mill intentionally makes this 26ct in one direction and 25ct in the other to mimic traditional fabrics)

Why is folk fabric so special?

Folk fabrics have been used for hundreds of years to make folk costumes and household embroideries. When you work a cross stitch design on them, they give your stitching a beautiful texture and are a delight to stitch on, plus they're made to stand up to daily use. I source mine from a 3rd-generation family mill in Athens, Greece so you can have an authentic stitching experience.

What if I'm new to cross stitch?
