Krista's book, "Everyday Folk: over 175 folk embroidery designs for the home, inspired by traditional textiles" has a variety of Essential Projects which provide stitchers with an opportunity to experience traditional folk embroidery in an easy format with complete charts and finishing instructions. These supply kits feature the same fabrics and floss that Krista used for the book so you can create the same project. Due to copyright issues, supply kits do NOT come with a printed chart (you will need a copy of the book for the charts).

Why is folk fabric so special?

Folk fabrics have been used for hundreds of years to make folk costumes and household embroideries. When you work a cross stitch design on them, they give your stitching a beautiful texture and are a delight to stitch on, plus they're made to stand up to daily use. I source mine from a 3rd-generation family mill in Athens, Greece so you can have an authentic stitching experience.

What if I'm new to cross stitch?

One of the wonderful things about cross stitch folk embroidery is that you can learn how to do it in a couple of hours and enjoy it for a lifetime! If you're new, watch my How To Cross Stitch video to get started on your folk embroidery journey.

I have not yet started this project, but was extremely excited just to OPEN the carefully package kit and other supplies in my order. I have recently made time to watch the monthly Flosstubes on Instagram and will start this project as soon as I finish up the final step and backstitching of my grandsons Christmas stocking. I absolutely love the color palette of all Krista’s pieces- and since we have only been to Greece once, last fall, with my cousin (for their anniversary) I will be stitching this Santorini piece for her - and the peony kit for me! Everything is so carefully packaged and I know the fabric is very high quality- all much appreciated!!😍👍🏻
