Laurel leaves, known as “daphni” in Greek, are a common artistic motif throughout the ancient Mediterranean world and symbolize victory and triumph. The Daphni folk embroidery kit reimagines this classical element in a fresh and modern way, turning it into a geometric double border worked in calming tones of blues and greens.  An easy repeating pattern that can be adapted to any size desired, from rectangular runners to square cushion covers. Kit includes: 30ct 100% European linen in Vanilla, DMC 100% cotton embroidery floss, John James size 24 needle, full color charts and instructions (a PDF copy of the pattern will also be sent to you).

Why is folk fabric so special?

Folk fabrics have been used for hundreds of years to make folk costumes and household embroideries. When you work a cross stitch design on them, they give your stitching a beautiful texture and are a delight to stitch on, plus they're made to stand up to daily use. I source mine from a 3rd-generation family mill in Athens, Greece so you can have an authentic stitching experience.
