Beautiful Appleton's Crewel Wools, great for cushion cover designs. Not just for needlepoint, crewel wools create a lovely, cozy texture on counted thread fabrics and can be a fun change of pace from cotton floss. Appleton's is a British company that has been sourcing, spinning and dyeing wool for 180 years. Each skein has 27m/29.7yds (to substitute for DMC, double the DMC yardage). Best paired with any 26ct fabric (30ct fabrics are a bit too fine to use with crewel wool). Colorfast, hand wash cool, line dry.

Why is folk fabric so special?

Folk fabrics have been used for hundreds of years to make folk costumes and household embroideries. When you work a cross stitch design on them, they give your stitching a beautiful texture and are a delight to stitch on, plus they're made to stand up to daily use. I source mine from a 3rd-generation family mill in Athens, Greece so you can have an authentic stitching experience.
