Designed especially for beginners, the Baltic Scroll folk embroidery kit is inspired by a motif from a vintage Latvian needlework booklet. Despite its intricate look, it is an excellent design for beginners because each row is worked in a single color. The simple outer borders frame a striking stylized leaf that is repeated for the central border. Worked in a traditional Mediterranean color palette of deep blue, terra cotta, soft green, and golden olive, this timeless design looks wonderful made into either a cushion cover or table runner. Kit includes: 26ct 100% cotton Traditional Groundcloth in natural, DMC 100% cotton embroidery floss, John James size 24 needle, full color charts and instructions (a PDF copy of the pattern will also be sent to you). (please note kit does not include cushion backing; I recommend Kona cotton in "Sand").
Finished size: 14 x 14” cushion cover (as shown in photo)
Stitch count: 57 x 167 sts/5950 cross stitches

Historically-inspired, modern-made!
Avlea Folk Embroidery brings ancient beauty to the modern world with beautiful folk embroidery kits of the finest quality. I design and make each kit by hand in my Central Oregon studio, to give you a wonderful stitching experience no matter your skill level.

Why is folk fabric so special?
Folk fabrics have been used for hundreds of years to make folk costumes and household embroideries. When you work a cross stitch design on them, they give your stitching a beautiful texture and are a delight to stitch on, plus they're made to stand up to daily use. I source mine from a 3rd-generation family mill in Athens, Greece so you can have an authentic stitching experience.
